Apple Pie Face Complete

20 copies of Apple Pie Face have been finished and are ready for distribution. This is the first print run of this book. In the fall or winter a second run will be made for local distribution and mail order. The second run will feature a slightly different variation in colour schema due to as all the inks for the first run were mixed on the spot.

Books were given as gifts and sold to a select few special people in New York, Montreal and Toronto.

Apple Pie Face

A month of drawings are burned to screens and printed on fancy paper. Daniel is crossing Europe this summer and I am meandering around out east. This provides us with an opportunity to get some of our work printed and out to friends and curious acquaintances that we meet in our travels.

This image of Daniel pulling prints was made at about 1 in the morning. This particular day of printing ran approximately 18 hours.

New Directions

This is a new series I've been working on involving portraiture and colour, two things that have been vacant from my paintings for the past few years. The series was started last October and the first few paintings are finally starting to see completion.

Haven Lost 2006 - 2010. Nathan Jones, Vancouver, BC, Canada, 2010

This work was started in the summer of 2006 but left unfinished. I thought I lost the file but recently came across it while searching my backup disks for a copy of some old editing software. The work is an early experiment, a ruff sketch. At the time I was interested in how colour and light effect our perception of space and how the metamorphosis of colour in work such as this creates a narrative. As a painter (or picture maker), when I view films or videos I am often fascinated and excited by the idea that every frame that has passed in front of my eyes was a separate composition. I plan on doing more work in this vein.

Special Thanks: Mathew Anderson, Ian Prentice Daniel Giantomaso and David Rimmer.

Detail shots of sculptural installation for Blim's "Collections" show.

"All materials for this piece, including the drawn aspects were left in my apartment by my friend Dan. He said I could throw them out but instead I used them in this sculpture. With the exception of a few colours even the paint was at one time his. The piece is intended to be viewed from the front, reading in a similar way to a painting."
